    “Can we have healthcare?”

“Sorry, best I can do is crappy mandated privatized health insurance that doesn’t really cover anything that we will also fine you for not having if you fail to pay thousands for it every year… and we’ll try to compromise with Rs who want to further sweep away any of the crumbs you have cobbled together… also missile contracts to feed the military industrial complex.”

I don’t know who “won” but I hate watching Allred - the guy who is supposed to be a Democratic alternative to Ted Cruz - repeatedly adopt right-wing framing on every issue, which just stands to let Republicans further ratchet everything to the right and normalizes the objectively brutal policies of the Rs.

This guy has my vote, but man neoliberal DNC stooges are always just giving Rs a win, depressing turnout and alienating anyone who wants to vote against the candidates who want to lock up kids in cages.

  • I feel like I only know just enough about docker containers to get myself into trouble.

I’ve ran a few docker containers for things like Minecraft Bedrock for my kid and his friends and a local Ubooquity server and stuff like that but I’m wondering if anyone has made a guide for glutun VPN bind + an Invidious instance with tailscale/twingate setup you mentioned.

I am just an iPhone pleb who really loved using Yattee while it worked and assume a similar setup to what you described would allow me to point my Yattee to the self-hosted instance.

  • Disagreed. Baby steps don’t inspire turnout.

    Texas isn’t a purple state. It’s a non-voting state.

No one shows up for discount 10% off but only if you are 1.5631x the current median poverty-rate one time mail in rebate coupon legislation.

    People need bold action.

That doesn’t necessarily mean making Texans angry by saying “bold” things like “we are going to take away all your guns” but instead something meaningful “we’re going to punish the companies who let you freeze in the dark in Feburary 2021 because they’re being cheap bastards and people like Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott don’t care if you die,” or “we’re going to forgive all medical debt,” or “we are going decriminalize marijuana.”

It’s why hundreds of people line up outside of a Denny’s on “Free Breakfast Day”… but no one would show up for a “$1 off your 1st pancake on the 3rd Tuesday every 4 months” coupon.

Bold proposals shake the apathetic into mobilizing and showing up… not half-ass milquetoast policy designed in an attempt to try to appeal to only the mOdErAtE fascists.

  • Leisure suit Larry is not really a parody like Conker was though, was it? I thought it was just a point and click adventure game with dirty jokes.

Forgive me, if I’m wrong on that. I actually have not really played the leisure suit Larry games.

I think, Conker not only makes fun of platformer games and game mechanics in general, but directly references movies like Saving Private Ryan, the Alien franchise, and the Matrix.

  • A lot of early 3D console games - whether platformers or FPS games, have aged pretty poorly. Go try to play GoldenEye again and see how it feels compared to modern shooters. Really Super Mario 64 is kind of the outlier.

Conker and Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 are all cut from the same cloth at mid-90s Rare. The Xbox release version fixed a few things with Conker but broke others. Honestly Conker was one of the first “parody” type games (at least as major console releases went anyway) and it only works well if you have the nostalgia goggles to appreciate it as it existed in an era where if you wanted to play 3D platformers, you were mostly limited to baby games like Croc, Spyro, or the other Rare platformers.
