minus-squareDagwood222@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 day agoI’ll relink the article on vote splitting. It’s amazing to me to talk to people who claim to be political and yet seem to have never actually considered how elections actually work. https://electionscience.org/education/vote-splitting
minus-squareNSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·1 day agothis is just spam. the answer is the green party does push leftist views.
minus-squareDagwood222@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 day agoI did a quick check. there’s not one Green Party member of Congress as of 2024. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Green_politicians_who_have_held_office_in_the_United_States I never said that the Party didn’t have Leftist views; I said that they are taking Left votes from the Dems and helping the GOP win.

minus-squareDagwood222@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 day ago Again, what is the point if you never win? Please answer the question. I’m pretty sure you can’t, but in case someone else stumbles on this I want it shown that you couldn’t
minus-squareNSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·1 day agono, they are earning votes the Democrats can’t.
minus-squareDagwood222@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 day agoAnd exactly what good are those votes doing if the Greens can’t win any elections? The point of running isn’t to make nice speeches, it’s to get elected and make real changes. Again, what is the point if you never win?
minus-squareNSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·1 day agothe prohibition party never won, but they got a constitutional amendment. the point is building a movement and demonstrating power.
minus-squareDagwood222@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 day agoQuick search shows that the Prohibition Party was established in 1868 and Prohibition was enacted in 1919. About 50 years later. Greens were established in 2001. I guess that means you’re willing to wait another 25 years for any substantive change. Also, it’s pretty funny that you can pay attention to the Prohibition Party and ignore the idea of vote splitting.
minus-squareNSRXN@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·1 day agothe fact you need to search indicates you may not be qualified to be having this discussion.
