Nowhere near as capable and a little slow, but it’s still great for a beginner.

Think of it as an open-source version of Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.

Once Kdenlive got its stability issues sorted out, I was shockingly impressed with just how good it’s gotten. I still wouldn’t put it against DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro or anything, but it sits along with Inkscape and Blender as a great example of what Open Source is capable of in a professional setting.

OpenShot creator Jonathan Thomas released today OpenShot 3.3 as a major update to this open-source, cross-platform, and free video editing software for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Highlights of OpenShot 3.3 include Cosmic Dusk as the default theme for a modern and stylish look, a Wayland-compatible color picker that allows color picking only from the OpenShot main window, customizable audio buffer size in preferences for optimal playback, and a Recovery menu for recovering previous auto-saved files.
