1·16 days agoA fork is desirable. Then we can have antifa hacktivists contributing to that source with malware to scare them out of their dumb political views.
Not one mention to moderation. The strength and focus of our “small isles” is on taking control of moderating the contents. We can stop fascists posts, and we can share alternative narratives (e.g. solarpunk) to Sillicon Valley. Plus, spoiler alerts as content warnings, etc. I think mastodon with their covenant is the greatest example of this ethos.
4·18 days agoNot a counterpoint, but to extend a bit on how it could be done: encrypted data. Or, self-hosting server part available, like Mozilla’s (i.e. GarduaLinux has a fork of Librewolf/ Floorp, called Firedragon which uses their own firefox server for account sync)
6·22 days agoI never thought of that, if you get a m3u8 playlist or are able to craft it yourself (and open in, say VLC) then you’re done. Jellyfin supports IPTV (those, or any live TV streaming sites)… https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/live-tv/

1·29 days agoNot sure if this is what you’re are after, but https://github.com/lakinduakash/linux-wifi-hotspot allows, among other things, to share the Ethernet-connected PC internet (with VPN if needed) as a WLAN for TVs, Phones, etc.

Btw… aren’t you concerned that htop uses 10% CPU? I was, and then swirched to use
btm(cargo install bottom) because the F key freezes the metrics.
