Going by that logic, I should be a billionaire now.
Going by that logic, I should be a billionaire now.
People only remember the good stuff. They don’t usually think about all the software that sucked.
You’re going to have to explain this convoluted logic to your grandchildren when they ask you why you voted for genocide.
So, what do you think is happening in Palestine? In Lebanon?
Maybe it’s not very addictive for you. It is for most people.
The way you are with coffee is the way I am with nicotine. I’ve smoked. I’ve quit smoking. I’ve started again. The most craving I’ve gotten for a cigarette was incredibly mild. Once I read that nicotine could trigger certain diseases that run in my family, I quit tobacco completely and I’ve never looked back. I haven’t had a cigarette in about 18 years, and quitting was trivially easy for me.
Based on this, I could say “Cigarettes aren’t very addictive. They’re easy to quit!” And of course, I’d be dead wrong.
Or maybe…hear me out…different people like different things. Some people don’t like GUIs and enjoy working in the command line. For some other people, it’s the opposite.
It’s just different preferences.
Staffing agencies will do this to make you look more appealing to a client.
A couple of times I’ve had it autocorrect to complete gibberish. Go home, GBoard, you’re drunk.
Really? There aren’t updates with new features that you look forward to? Ever?
Garuda. It’s an Arch derivative that creates a snapshot of your system every time you update. That way, if the update breaks something, you can just roll your system back to the last working snapshot.
Who does number 2 work for?!?
If you don’t like it,
don’t usefork Ventoy.
American exceptionalism always made me cringe, but it makes me cringe more the older I get. I hate how presidential candidates feel like they have to call the US the most powerful, the greatest, and so on.
Where did I say that I wasn’t going to vote? I’m voting Green. If there’s a good Democrat running for Congress, I’ll vote for them, too. This isn’t complicated.
I live in a blue state. Using that same logic, my vote for a Democrat is a wasted vote, because my state is going to go blue whether I vote for them or not.
I read a biography of Stallman several years ago. The whole free software movement was an attempt to preserve the early hacker culture where everybody freely swapped code. So, Stallman didn’t really “invent” FOSS; he just codified that early hacker ethos.
What was minix then? A non FOSS version?
It wasn’t FOSS, but then neither was Linux originally.
Wait…you think those are intuitive? Fuck no.
Who’s going to intuitively know that “long hand pointing at 2” means “10 minutes after the hour”? Also, having the long hand for minutes is super unintuitive when hours are longer than minutes.
Fish shell does this automatically. It’s one of the reasons I love it. You can auto-complete based on your command history.
There’s this amazing invention; it’s called “wash your vegetables”.
