Yeah I’ve tried that with my webdav mount coz its the obvious thing to do.
Problem is local notes are exposed to other apps and unencrypted.
Apps like neutrinote can protect notes in their app sandbox and create a backup mirror in location of choice e.g. a webdav Mount that happens to be behind mtls.
Syncthing does not offer mtls.
Mtls requires that the android client device has a certificate installed that matches the one installed on the server in order to access it.
Flash microg if your rom has signature spoofing
https://github.com/deku-messaging/Deku-SMS-Android
Supports emoji & images Supports e2ee if the other party also have deny SMS installed Supports message forwording
Vaultwarden behind mutual tls and reverse proxy and https://github.com/oguzhane/bitwarden-mobile until https://github.com/bitwarden/mobile/pull/2629 is merged
But honestly all services you mentioned are worthy.
Anything that fits your needs imao
RPI4/400 is perfectly capable as a little home server. All it needs is a good SD card.
Owntracks,photoprism,monocker,brave go m-sync,libre photos,wallabag,radicals e,Baikal,Firefox sync,Joplin web,webdav server,jellyfin,vaultwarden,wireguard
Icard is actuality the only alternative that can register as a contactless nfc payment that not relying on google/Apple wallet and its perfectly safe. It’s an actual bank in Bulgaria and is eu regulated and PCI certified
Not Foss. Kinda of a privacy nightmare as you need to verify your identity and location with actual documents but as already said its not google and is a solid option if you are degoogled.
Your options in aftermarket OS fall in to 3 categories imao
those that support relocking the bootloader (grapheme, calyx, divest, other smaller projects maybe)
vanilla roms with signature spoofing permission so that you can have microg on them. Some even come with microg preinstalled (/e/,lode,Los4mg) And some are gmscomat compatible (voltage, awaken, spark). There are plenty but they don’t care about signed images and relocking.
some unofficial build from any of the above from a maintainer that cares to sign his own images so that you can relock your BL as your device supports it.
Channels and groups are not encrypted in tg. Like this community we now chatting is not encrypted. I dont see anything wrong in that. For the tg encryption security audit , i think its beyond the purpuse of the channel i made so idc.
I dont even know what am i suppost to see here. Global search?
Telegram is not google. The clients are open source. And there are degoogled clients on fdroid. And eitherway you can access the channel from any browser without the need of an account
Together with the other suggestions jtx board is also a new addition Developed from the davx5 team , tasks, calendars, journals and NOTES.
The good: Easy sync of notes with any caldav provider . No extra servers and apps for tasks, cakendars, journals. Mtls support ( davx5 supports it ) for extra security if you selfhost
The bad: No desktop client
Tags are essential. As all other features I mentioned. There are tons of app lists out there. Git repos, websites, subredits even app stores, none of this option are ideal for a quick post that will provide a brief preview , catecorisation , public accessibility and user comments at the same time.
Lemmy would be great though. It has link previews. Can be webviewed without an account. Has user interaction. There is also progress on the tag system. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/317#issuecomment-1688384524 If it ever goes upstream and implemented it will be perfect
If anyone can suggest a telegram alternative that can be publicly accessed without an account, can use tags and create a media and text preview from the providing link I’ll be more than happy to use that instead
I used telegram after thought
Matrix is only good for continous flow chatting
There is no way to categorise and search messages
Matrix does not have search filter. Actually does not have any search at all in groups
Also there is no way categorise messages by any mean
In telegram I just add a # in the post Then Users tap on the # and all related messages appear
Easy
And fast
That would require a lot more work. The idea behind the channel is to have an instant share and categorisation of an app I and other found and want to share and then use the related channel group to comment about it
You can access the channel from a web browser adding /s/ to the url https://t.me/s/favandroidapps
Tap on #tags on the pinned message to view only message with the selected tag
ps:Updated the post link with the web version of the channel
Owntracks , overland or traccar apps to track device coords when it moves
Then Owntracks offer a very basic webui to show your track or pins within a specific time period on a map
Dawarich has some extra features and can handle google takeout and both Owntracks and overland json’s
https://github.com/Freika/dawarich
Traccar has many features too
All apps require a server
I am also starting a web app that fit my needs
It offers search , route grouping , and a date picker .
I’m struggling to implement new features like poi visited locations , google takeout import , support other apps except owntracka, beatify it a bit etc but I’m no real Dev .
Either way you might want to have a look
