I do like their laptops, but for literally everything else: the fact that I basically don’t own my own hardware.
I can’t install or distribute my own software without Apple’s arbitrary approval. When Apple decides it’s done supporting the products, I can’t even install a different OS like Linux because the hardware is completely locked down… they become paper-weights.
That is not how ownership is supposed to work.

Gitlab just stomps Github into the dirt these days. For my own projects, I’m now Gitlab all the way.
My one complaint, though, is that Gitlab’s Git LFS is way more pricey than Github, which sucks.
Projects not containing anything owned by Nintendo has never stopped Nintendo from destroying those projects (and peoples lives) in the past.
I get your frustration and agree with your points, including the necessity of action. But action starts with words in places like this, which we all then take with us into our real, physical lives. There’s no need to discourage that.
Well, part of the reason is that Republicans keep getting choose their voters rather than the other way around… but even when they cheat, they tend to get away with it because their secondary tactic is so effective: spreading apathy to reduce turnout.
Not to rain on the parade, but as long as we allow the reality-sized hole that is non-profits owning for-profits, this isn’t something I can get terribly excited about.
