  • If you define economics as have and have-not, they obviously had economics. Who are he to tell us that bartering didn’t happen on any scale within a tribe of cro magnom.

I think the point being is that economics is a large scale class system with fairly complex structures. There’s always been have and have-nots. Just look at a pride of lions on how they distribute the feeding based upon ranks within the pride. It’s not economics, but it’s s class based system with distributed means (i.e access to food).

So maybe all of nature is oppress or being oppressed in a way. We just industrialised it.

  • My problem (and many others I guess) is that i won’t remember Pat or Kelly the next time. And the next time. And the next time etc etc. Especially if I only see her ever so often. No chance to remember special pronouns beyond what gender they present. He/she/him/her is relatively easy (but not always…) them/they or anything else they prefer seems overly complicated in a social setting.

But if I remember the name and intentionally use others to taunt you, then yes, I would be a cunt. And I try not to be one…

  • I understand the desire to have people use your pronouns, and as long as one can see what gender you are “presenting”, one should use those pronouns.

If someone prefers other pronouns, then I’m sorry… Many people (me included) have a hard time remembering names… I wouldn’t have a chance remembering a large set of different pronouns if I can’t even remember the names of that person. A pronoun is a non specific way of addressing someone and a break life saver like “you”…

To to switch to an all inclusive them/they for everybody seems overreaching.

If it’s not obvious what pronouns someone prefers, then they shouldn’t be annoyed if someone makes repeatedly mistakes.

And this makes it hard to distinguish a mistake from an insult…

I’m not saying a parent knows your inner feelings, but I am saying that after watching repeat behaviour patterns you notice stuff. And with younger kids they don’t really connect these dots. So yeah, to some extent we do know our kids better than they do

But this all has limits. And expiration dates.

A lot og questions can be answered diplomatically and show that you are able to handle yourself:

Q: do you like the colour red?

    A1: I hate red

    A2: I don’t like red

    A3: Not my favourite colour

    A4: I prefer blue

In this entirely made up and pointless exercise you hate red and are asked if you like it. Real world applications converging on zero.

On a scale of lie to truth, where are you comfortable with representing your thoughts of red in an interview?

And remember, only Sith deals in absolutes🙃
