  • My music is a compost pile. All the new stuff I listen to is on top and it gets listened to on repeat and the music is less engaging the further down the stack it goes, even though it was on repeat when it was fresh. Stuff at the bottom of the list may only get played once in a year or even less.

My brain has changed a bit over time. I used to need that constant noise, it helped things flow. Now I prefer quiet. Noise breaks the flow.

  • Because they want to exhaust the person engaging in a good faith discussion. It’s far more labor intensive to have to look for, find, verify for contextual correctness, quote and link said sources, then argue why one’s position is factually correct.

And all the other person has to do is cite some patently false bullshit in 5 seconds and disregard the argument.

I don’t like dishing on generational rants, but OMG the mobile device generation is every bit as lost as Boomers are when it comes to the actual functioning of their device or using a PC as an actual work device.

My kids have had a PC since they were four, they’re teens now and they still don’t get a lot of it, but when their friends come over they are absolutely clueless. Use an Xbox or Playstation? IPad? Sure! No problem! Anything beyond that they just give up.

  • Plain white basmati rice.

One cup rice. If it’s not washed, wash it.

    2 1/4 cups water.

    1 heaping teaspoon salt.

Put rice, salt, and water in pot.

Bring to boil. Stir a little to keep rice from sticking too much.

Soon as it boils, take off heat, put heat to low, then put pot back on heat and put a lid on it.

~ 20 minutes later, check. Should not be any water in the bottom of the pot. If no water, eat!
