I’m calling to arms linux desktop users to dip their toes into this space as we need all the support we can get

If you guys wanna see higher adoption numbers buy used android phones that are supported by one of your favourite distros and donate to the developers. They’re small fry at the moment.

Benefits of the Linux Phone would be: more choice in operating systems, longer supported phones, more FOSS apps, more demand for unlocked bootloaders (Hello EU please force all phone manufacturers to include this), Increased device support, beefed up competition in the mobile market which is sorely needed now.

I’m part of that I just upgraded two of my pc’s to Linux.

I got the bootloader unlocked pretty easily.

Fairphones get 8-10 years of software support.

Edit 5: for banking I would have to pay off my credit cards when I get access to my laptop.

When I pay at the store I would have to pull out my credit cards to tap.

For the autheticator apps I would have to keep an old duopoly device to use it to log in services.

Edit 4: Ubuntu touch feels daily drivable. Its Just that I would have to sacrifice some nice-to-haves from my phone.

Aslong as email,calling,texting and celluar data work, I can switch to this full time.
