Tsai Ing-Wen visited Japan to pay respects to Shinzo Abe when the latter was assassinated. There are also Taiwanese that feel proud of the fact that their grandmothers were comfort women. A lot of Taiwanese (especially the ones in Southern Taiwan) look up to Japan and consider themselves to be more Japanese than Chinese
