  • The reason for this (imv), is that hosting for general and nsfw communities are very different kettles of fish.

For general communities, you want lots of consideration, nuance, and nudging when moderating and setting what is acceptable content. As this helps to gradually build positive self regulating communities.

For NSFW, you have to be hair trigger deleting stuff, or you just end up hosting horrible shit.

I have respect for the guys willing to deal with hosting NSFW content, because it’s more than I’d ever be comfortable with!

  • If any federated banning networks do pop up, I’d expect them to form groups, with different groups having different standards. And the idea being that if someone’s banned from one place with similar standards, the rest of the group probably wouldn’t welcome the content.

It’ll come down to places and groups being reasonable, and not banning for stupid reasons (at least by that group’s standards). And if they are unreasonable, it’ll reflect on the group, as nobody would bother posting to those instances any more.

And in a way, the ultimate “ban” will be with the host instance, similarly to email.
An admin at lemmy.world might get a report that an account is spreading csam links everywhere, and to consider banning them, for example.

  • You’ll need to have a zigbee radio on a HomeAssistant instance (maybe possible with other software).
And on HomeAssistant, run ZHA (or similar) with the zigbee radio.
Sorry if that’s teaching to suck eggs, just wanted to clarify.

If you’re already set up with that, it’s just a case of deleting a bulb from the Hue bridge, and searching for it using the zigbee integration. Once it’s deleted from Hue, it will go into pairing mode. You may need to power cycle the bulb if it does not appear in the search within 10s.

HASS was able to support my white/ambiance bulbs and colour bulbs without any issues. In fact, it responds faster. The only downside is that they don’t so much fade, as jump to a new value. The update frequency is about 2 times per second.
