  • Here’s a few on reports:

-If you think it merits a report report it.

-If you’re unsure if it breaks a rule DM a mod.

-Idealy on a report write the rule # broken. If you’re typing past three sentences it’s may have unnecessary info.

-If someone is breaking a “don’t be mean” rule, the answer isn’t for you to break it too.

Here’s a few non report ways you can help:

    -Set a positive tone.

-A lot of good posts/comments probably never get heard because people think it’s too lower effort or no one is interested.

-Crosspost to related communities to help people find related communities.

Reach out to the seller. Assert to them that you own that IP and that it was released with a limited license that doesn’t include their sales. Say that they need to either stop or purchase a license from you to continue. If they don’t stop or want to get a license now is the point for you to contact an IP lawyer.

You could go straight to the lawyer option but this should save you some money and possibly resolve it without outside help.

  • Glad to hear it! And yes that is me. You’re making me feel like Lemmy’s second biggest celebrity, behind the android community moderator Margot Robbie. If you enjoy the posts don’t forget to check out the Forgotten Weapons YouTube channel & website.

The community is sort of a place for fans of the show to post stuff that other fans would enjoy, but it’s got a whole bunch of members who actually have found out about Forgotten Weapons through the Lemmy community first. I’m really glad to see people who find out about Forgotten Weapons from the community. It makes me feel like I’m giving back to Ian McCollum for everything I’ve learned from his show.

  • All states require you to get a background check on the purchase of a firearm from a gun store. Waiting periods are in a minority of states. Pretty much any felony, even nonviolent ones prohibits you from buying a gun.

The ‘gun show loophole’ is actually just the in private party sales (like selling your neighbor your gun) no background check is mandated. This is because the law requiring background checks is a federal law and the federal government has the authority to regulate interstate commerce but not intrastate commerce. Some states like NY have stricter background check laws than the federal law.

Bows, knives, & machetes all don’t require background checks. Grenades, technically any can get a license to own & make explosives but each one carries a $200 tax in addition to the hoops required to get the license, so pretty much no one really does that recreationally.
