The Sync drama truly is a Reddit moment.
The Sync drama truly is a Reddit moment.
It was bound to happen eventually; these migrations happen in waves, after all. Not to mention, a solid chunk of former Reddit users just stopped using social media entirely.
So have other forums. Maybe it’s just these newfangled social media websites that have longevity issues?
I’ve got a couple accounts on various instances as backup, since we can’t exactly transfer accounts across instances just yet.
I, for one, am glad to be on a server that isn’t run by tankies, nazis or some other crazy fuckos.

Hardware:
They make high-quality hardware and I like that they’re trying to do something new and interesting with foldable tech, but I’ve never been a fan of their Exynos processors and foldables (imo) have proven to be little more than a gimmick that sacrifices far too much on durability for minimal benefit to most people.
Software:
I hate bloatware, and I’m not a fan of their crusade against open bootloaders.
That’s how they collect the surplus they have right now. Without it, they could be in much direr straits if funding were to be suddenly cut off.
That should tell you something about how little effort people have put into understanding the Fediverse.
Because it’s a complex feature that may involve recurring costs for developers, and they may need more time to ‘get it right’.
Honestly, now that you say it…that does sound like quite the case study.
Feels nice, being a pioneer.
Is Tildes really ‘competing’? The invite-based signup obviously invites the most dedicated and ‘quality’ individuals, but I don’t see how that’s gonna help with critical mass.
As for Squabbles, I’m suspicious of yet another centralized platform. Honestly, I’m just sorta ‘done’ trusting wannabe billionaires.
I mean, Reddit killed off ‘polished UX’ and that’s what drove me here. All the great 3PAs are on the Fediverse, after all!
Facebook’s probably listing anything that is and might be possible to collect, as a way to cover their legal bases already.
Wouldn’t be surprised if major Lemmy instances started showing ads to sustain their own servers. It sucks, but hosting costs money and donations aren’t all that reliable.
Yeah I’ve used it, and it’s good. The text editor is better on Memmy though, more like Apollo. Search too.
Yeah I tried it, and it worked fine…but I’d still prefer a native app from an amazing dev, y’know? Christian added so much to the Apollo app…sad to see it all go to waste.
Would be nice to have a few iOS-only apps that are designed entirely around Apple’s UX, like Apollo. Please Christian, don’t leave us…
Finally, the fun kind of schizoposting!
