Self hoster here, im nuking all of pictrs. People are sick. Luckily I did not see anything, however I was subscribed to the community.
sudo find /srv/lemmy/example.com/volumes/pictrs -type f -exec shred {} \;
Removed the pictrs config in lemmy.hjson
removed pictrs container from docker compose
Anything else I should to protect my instance, besides shutting down completely?
People that hate communists tend to also be people who hate LGBTQ+, liberals fit this category (like blahaj 196 with its huge “anti-tankie” banner) they are just better at smiling and covering up their hatred of you.
They don’t want to at all but I’ve chained them to the desk and propped their eyes open clockwork orange style. They have no choice but to watch me remove Windows
No, I’m putting a gun to their head and they will use Linux. /s
I have gotten a few comments like these, not sure why some of you are getting the idea that this is a forced switch lol
Bingo!
They wanted to give it a try so win-win for both of us if they end up liking it.
Awesome, thanks for this! Looks promising, I’ll check it out.
?
You are reading into this post a bit too deeply and inferring a lot of things from my post that I never said. I am not forcing my partner into this and they have not expressed disinterest.
Why not just try to get it to run on your machine?
I wanted to gauge the level of effort involved first. I easily can sink hours into tinkering something and getting it to eventually work but sometimes it isn’t worth it.
That’s a good and sadly realistic point.
I read a forum post back in the day about a guy that forced his wife and kids to use FreeBSD and they hated it. It was pretty funny but I also don’t want to be that guy
Well, that’s the problem, isn’t it? A company should not be promoting Christmas and then banning any mention of non-christian holidays. Just don’t mention them at all then
Thank you for the heads up. I was considering OpenSUSE bc I am looking for a new distro after Fedora’s telemetry bullshit. Not anymore
This is why I made my own instance, when the large instances defederate from one another they are effectively censoring and controlling what you see. In most cases, that means banning any sort of marxist discussion.
Between this and the Fedora team wanting to force telemetry on users, I’m starting to shy away from Red Hat.
Yeah that stopped on 09/12/2001.
