Well, I just heard this for the first time. Could have saved me a lot of time and trouble.
The first thing you need is root access. Then you can uninstall all google apps (including system apps).

That might be problem with cloudflare or some other DDOS blocker used by lemmy.world that requires javascript and cookies.
Seems to problem with lemmy.world. I just tried Orbot with jerbora and lemmy.world and I got what you described. On my new account on lemmy.today, it works without any problems. (In fact, I just posted this comment via tor)
Many ARM boards (including raspberry pis) are designed to run with linux. So the manufacturers can customize the kernel and firmware for the boards.
In theory, you could make a XMPP bot that can do all these things. Status information and executing simple commands shouldn’t be that hard but interactive commands might need a custom wrapper.
