I like to watch videos published by Nick from The Linux Experiment. In the latest video he talks about the developments in the new Cosmic, The quality of life touches and polishing of KDE, and the apps coming to gnome (like snoop). It is all really cool and I can’t wait to try them all :)
Yeah it’s great, It’s never been a better time to be a Linux user. There’s always something to look forward to and we get more support every year. I’m going to give cosmic a shot when they release it.
@GenBlob @InternetCitizen2 It’s your first line for me 🥰😍💞 #linuxuser
Definetly. f.e. Plasma 6 is very exciting.
can’t wait for kde6
xfce5
xfce 4.20 first
Can’t wait for me to fully utilize the refresh rate of my ultrawide without it being limited by my 4K monitor
It’s so nice to be excited about my OS again. I remember as a kid, I used to be really excited about Windows updates. People were cynical about Microsoft even back then, but I remained loyal to Windows for years.
Only last year did I finally move to Linux as my OS (although I still use Windows for gaming). Since then every following Linux news is always exciting. New versions of distros, desktop environments and software always bring interesting improvements.
Meanwhile on the Windows side, most noticeable updates just bring more ads, tracking, forced Edge recommendations and forced logins. Ironically the last Windows feature I remember being genuinely excited for was WSL 2.
@TrustingZebra
Iirc windows can open archives without an external program now, even tarballs, so that’s something…Not that I plan on using modern versions of windows if I can help it, but still
@InternetCitizen2
Laughs in his never changing xfce 😄 I enjoy reading about the other DEs changes as well tho!
Looks great, I used the wallpaper myself for a while. What theme/icons do you use?

I can’t wait for xfce on Wayland
To be honest, one of the reasons I switched from KDE (after 15+ years of using it) was the better X support on xfce. I use an nvidia card, so before I switch to wayland support for nvidia drivers has to be much much better.
I’m on AMD and have 3 monitors with 3 different resolutions and 3 different refresh rates, so X11 just doesn’t work for me
That’s a good reason indeed. I have three monitors myself but all the same refresh rate so it’s all good on that end.
I’m even more excited about the Ticket Booth app, because even if/when I use streaming services, if I like a show I’ll end up torrenting for archival purposes.
I don’t trust that this content will be available on these platforms forever, so it really means a lot for me to have such a nice app to keep track of what I watched / liked / want to watch
