Don’t know if this is the most suitable place to ask, but it’s all I can think of.
Say like tax documents. Password protect them? What’s the best free software?
For encryption I stick to veracrypt for local and cryptomator for cloud storage (has a paid mobile application but free on desktop). 7zip also has an option to password protect but not sure how resilient that is.
VeraCrypt and 7zip are both good recommendations. I’ve read up on cryptomator, but haven’t used it yet, so it’s good to read an endorsement of it from someone who does for cloud storage.
Edit: you could also encrypt it with a local pgp key if you already use that encryption method with a pgp program or provider
Oh im still new to learning gpg/pgp haha but thats also a good option
You could use something like KeepassXC password manager to store the pdfs that way they are encrypted on the drive and not stored as a loose file.
I had no idea they can do that. Does bitwarden do that?
Yeah but think file storage is only available for premium users
A service like paperlessNG pointed at an encrypted drive could work well.
it’s a way, don’t know if it’s the best way: green pass pdf wallet
this works fine: secure file manager
File manager for keeping your files in safe. Features

Well a good way is enough, I don’t need uber best. I’ll edit the title.
