Good on him for doing the right thing, but a few thoughts.

    1. Who the fuck walks around with that much cash? I keep a $20 bill (CAD, so only about 14 EUR) in my wallet for emergencies and everything else gets paid by card.
    2. I suspect the police had a few similar questions for anyone brave enough to claim that wallet.
    3. As per the community this is posted in, it’s a bummer that he was homeless in the first place but this is a huge windfall for him. Systemic issues aside, I see this as a win for the dude and his family.

Oh, I get it. I definitely didn’t mean to imply that this doesn’t fit here - just that the situation isn’t quite as demoralizing as many posts in this community.

He did a good thing and was handsomely rewarded for it by others. The situation in question wasn’t directly related to his financial plight. I’m sure I’m over-complicating it though. I’m just less bummed out by this story than I’m used to on this sub. Sooooo … yay?

To answer question 1, based on nothing besides this being Amsterdam and the figure of 2000 euros, I wonder if it was for a bike purchase.
