For those of us who remember Radio Shack as more than just an overpriced cell phone store, a lot of the nostalgia for the retailer boils down to the brands on offer. Remember the Realistic line of …
There are a ton of beginner kits based around Arduino boards like the Uno. Usually come with breadboards, jumpers, LEDs, sensors, displays, keypads, and other things to plug into it. There are many on Amazon and elsewhere, and lots of YouTube courses.
No, I have seen one that was modular but also missed out on a lot of what made wiring things up interesting. I could maybe see someone making one as a hobby project but I think less as a commercial product when the “real thing” is also so accessible and easy to work with, which wasn’t necessarily the case in the past. They have also gained a lot with the addition of coding to dynamically change behavior in a user-defined way.
Even looking for a crystal radio kit ends up with a lot of results that are throwing some PCB in a case, which is a shame.
