I think so in theory, but most fiber ISPs I’m aware of force you into using their gateway, at least for the media conversation to copper if nothing else. For some, that’s where the speed restrictions get added. If they didn’t cap connections upstream of the customer and let you BYOD then you could potentially pay for a 50Mbps circuit but actually get >10Gb for free.
